About me

I'm a master student in Data Science at the University of Pisa with a strong academic background in banking and finance. I enjoy bridging my two passions about computer science and finance with some projects that also help me to improve my proficiency in Python, Machine Learning and time series analysis.

Beyond my academic journey, I'm an amateur drummer and an animals' lover. I'm committed to applying my skills and knowledge to real-world challenges.

What I'm working on

  • Modular Algorithmic Trading Framework

The aim of this project is to have a system that allows to speed up the screening phase where multiple strategies are evaluated to pass to the next one where the most robust ones are implemented and optimized.

It provides a framework to implement fully automatic trading strategies on Forex market for backtesting and live trading. The scripts use the MetaTrader5 Python API to connect with the broker and execute the orders and is also available a feature to receive instant messages from a Telegram Bot whenever an order is executed or a position is closed also showing the profit of the latter.

The entire system is builded to be modular, so different types of strategies (statistical and econometrics-based as well as ML strategies using neural networks or other approaches) can be implemented with the same approach and with little to no changing in the main code.

  • Optimization - Extreme Learning Machine

This project aims to evaluate the performances of gradient based methods in the learning process of an Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) that tipically makes use of a single step approach - the computation of the Moore-Penrose pseudo-inverse matrix.

Looking at the problem from an optimization point of view, the considered function is convex and non-differentiable; two algorithms are tested, the momentum gradient descent method (that tipically fails on non-differentiable functions) and the deflected subgradient method. Tests will be executed on some well-known datasets (MNIST, CIFAR10, CIFAR100, CoverType).

Resume

Education

  1. M.Sc. Data Science and Business Informatics - University of Pisa

    2023 — 2025

The hands-on approach is the pillar of this M.Sc.; for each exam, team working on a real-world project is highly encouraged, improving team working skills as well as a problem-solving and result driven way of thinking. A deep knowledge of Python and its major libraries - Scipy, Scikit-learn, Numpy, Pandas, TensorFlow etc. - is achieved.

  2. Bachelor's Degree Banking and Finance - University of Pisa

    2020 — 2023

Relevant exams includes Corporate finance (A) | Financial mathematics (A) | Data analysis lab (A+). Thesis: The evolution of the markets managed by Borsa Italiana in its transition from the LSEG to Euronext.

  3. High school Diploma in industrial automation

    2015 — 2020

Developing and programming industrial automated control systems.

Experience

  1. Head waiter - Multiple locations

    2021 — Present

Main tasks involved: supplier management, staff coordination in addition to the regular waiter's duties. I developed solid time management and organizational skills in a dynamic environment.

  2. Intern - Insurance agency Helvetia

    Summer 2021
